What If Your Lawyer Actually Treated You Like Family? Exploring The Piri Law Firm’s Model of Client Care

A legal consultation can fail even when the client and attorney appear to understand each other.
The problem is rarely a single mistranslated word. It is the detail that never enters the conversation because the client is embarrassed, uncertain or relying on a relative to interpret a sensitive event.
Michael Piri works in English, Spanish and French. At The Piri Law Firm, multilingual communication is part of the process used to build a case, particularly when immigration, criminal or family matters overlap.
Translation is not the same as direct communication
A family member may understand both languages and still be the wrong person to interpret a legal consultation. They may summarise, soften an answer or avoid translating something they believe will hurt the case.
The client may also withhold information because the interpreter is a spouse, child or close relative. Details involving a previous relationship, arrest or immigration history can be difficult to discuss in front of someone personally connected to the issue.
An attorney who communicates directly with the client has a better chance of hearing the facts in the order they occurred.
Small details can redirect the case
The date of an entry, the wording of an earlier plea or the reason a relationship ended may affect which legal options remain available.
These details are not always obvious to the client. A person may leave something out because it happened years ago or because another lawyer said it was unimportant in a different proceeding.
A multilingual intake process allows the legal team to ask follow-up questions without stopping the conversation for repeated explanation. It also lets the attorney test whether the client understands what a document says before it is signed.
Written material still matters
Speaking the client’s preferred language does not replace the paper record. Applications, notices and court documents must still be reviewed against the client’s account.
The difference is that the review becomes a two-way process. The attorney can explain what the document says, and the client can identify where it differs from what they remember or intended.
That comparison can expose missing records before a new filing is made.
The whole problem must be heard
The Piri Law Firm handles immigration, crimmigration, criminal defence, personal injury and family law across North Texas. Many clients arrive with issues that touch more than one of those areas.
A person injured in a collision may be afraid to report it because of immigration status. Someone offered a criminal plea may not know how it affects a future immigration application.
The legal questions are connected, but the connection only becomes visible when the client can describe the entire problem.
Language therefore affects more than comfort or customer service. It affects which facts reach the file, which risks are identified and which strategy the attorney is able to build.
