Taylor Swift’s rollout for her highly anticipated 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, is showing no signs of slowing down. On Thursday, the pop superstar introduced two additional limited-edition vinyl variants and an alternate album cover, part of the album’s special “Baby That’s Show Business” edition.
The announcement arrives just three days after Swift revealed two vinyl versions and an alternate cover under the “Shiny Bug” edition, reinforcing her signature strategy of offering collectors multiple unique formats with each new release.
The latest vinyl options include a shimmering deep blue, titled “lakeside beach blue sparkle,” and a golden-hued variant dubbed “lovely bouquet golden.” Both feature the same darker-toned alternate album artwork. These “Baby That’s Show Business” copies will remain available for purchase through Aug. 23, but if past Swift releases are any indication, fans should expect an early sell-out. The “Shiny Bug” edition, launched Monday, sold out within hours.
So far, Taylor Swift has unveiled four vinyl variants for The Life of a Showgirl. The rollout is in line with her long-standing practice of offering multiple collectible versions of her albums across vinyl, CD, and cassette formats. This strategy not only fuels fan excitement but also helps Swift consistently achieve massive first-week sales figures in an era dominated by streaming. She remains one of the few artists capable of selling over a million physical copies in a debut week.
The flurry of vinyl announcements follows Taylor Swift’s dramatic reveal of The Life of a Showgirl last week during a special appearance on New Heights, the popular podcast hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce. Scheduled for release on Oct. 3, the album reunites Swift with powerhouse producers Max Martin and Shellback, the creative team behind some of her most enduring pop anthems, including “Blank Space,” “Shake It Off” and “22.”
Taylor Swift also used her time on the podcast for one of the most candid interviews of her career. She spoke openly about regaining ownership of her masters, her record-breaking Eras Tour, and her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.
Reflecting on Kelce’s early efforts to win her over, Taylor Swift recalled a moment that felt lifted from a classic coming-of-age film. “This felt more like I was in an ‘80s John Hughes movie and he was just like, standing outside of my window with a boombox,” she said. “I was like, ‘if this guy isn’t crazy,’ this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.’”
With The Life of a Showgirl only six weeks away, Taylor Swift’s careful blend of storytelling, nostalgia, and exclusivity is already making the album one of the most hotly anticipated releases of the year. And if history is any guide, the limited vinyl variants are destined to become coveted fan treasures long after release day.
