Ariana Grande has long shown a gift for impersonation, honing it in appearances on “Saturday Night Live” and “The Tonight Show.” Now the pop star has trained that talent on the world of “Harry Potter,” taking on a lineup of familiar characters including Dobby, Ron Weasley, and Severus Snape, with impressive results.
Grande shared the clip on the TikTok page of her beauty brand, REM Beauty, to promote a new product. Throughout the video she cycles through different characters’ voices, each asking after her missing “blur butter.” She opens as Molly Weasley, originally played by Julie Walters, playfully reworking the character’s well-known “Deathly Hallows” line into “Where’s my blur butter, you bitch?”
From there she moves into Ron’s voice, riffing on a line from the first film as she frets over a missing blur butter balm and turns to Hermione for answers. She then becomes Dobby, spinning the house-elf’s famous declaration of freedom into a plea about the product.
From Snape to Hermione
Grande’s roster also includes Snape, played on screen by Alan Rickman, and Bellatrix Lestrange, brought to life by Helena Bonham Carter. Her take on Shirley Henderson’s Moaning Myrtle lands especially well, complete with a whispered aside about waiting for bubbles to pop. The video wraps with nods to Daniel Radcliffe’s Harry Potter and Emma Watson’s Hermione Granger.
Her impressions, whether of real people or fictional characters, are convincing enough to have left fellow performers in stitches. Celine Dion once admitted she laughed so hard at Grande’s impression of her on “The Tonight Show” that she wet herself. Grande’s brother, Frankie Grande, later recounted the moment to Jimmy Fallon, describing how Dion rushed up to him in Las Vegas to insist he pass along just how much the parody had made her laugh.
