Heidi Klum is at the beach with her family, and her Instagram has the receipts. Alongside the expected holiday shots, she posted something she rarely shares: a photo of all four of her children together at dinner.
Her youngest, Lou, sits directly to her left. Next along is Leni Klum, who brought her boyfriend Aris, and then her sons Johan and Henry. Friends of the family fill out the rest of the table.
The one absence is her husband, Tom Kaulitz. He is not behind the camera either. The photographer appears to have been one of the waiters, caught in a mirror with a smartphone in hand.
Sixteen years apart, and nobody gave it long
When Klum and Kaulitz were first seen together in spring 2018, the general assumption was that it would burn out fast. The 16-year age gap looked like too much, and the lives did not obviously fit: an international supermodel and mother of four on one side, the guitarist from Tokio Hotel on the other. Eight years on, they are one of the more durable couples in German public life.
They met through mutual friends at a party thrown by designer Michael Michalsky. Kaulitz has described it as love at first sight, and his twin brother Bill later said the chemistry between them was obvious straight away.
They went public within months. On red carpets, on family outings and in ordinary daily life, the closeness was there from the start. Klum has spoken often about how settled she feels with him, and he built a relationship with her four children early on, which mattered a great deal to her.
A proposal at Christmas, a wedding nobody knew about
Kaulitz proposed at Christmas 2018, getting down on one knee during a holiday together. He had run it past her children first.
A few months later they married in a secret civil ceremony in February 2019, exactly a year after they met. Nobody outside the circle knew for months. The summer wedding followed later that year.
Kaulitz is Klum’s third husband. She married Seal in 2005, and their separation became public in 2012. They have three children together.
