Madison Beer's Rare Elongated Cushion-Cut Engagement Ring, Explained

Nearly a year into dating, Madison Beer and Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert announced their engagement on Instagram — and gave fans a very good look at the ring. The singer’s sparkler is an elongated cushion-cut diamond in a clean solitaire setting, and jewelers who spoke to ELLE were quick to point out just how unusual it is.

The standout feature is the diamond’s proportions. “Madison’s ring is a beautiful example of understated luxury,” said Logan Hollowell, founder of Logan Hollowell Jewelry, praising the “exceptionally elongated cushion-cut diamond in a classic solitaire setting.” Kegan Fisher of Frank Darling called the stone “exceptionally rare” thanks to its nearly 2:1 ratio, a length that is “exceptionally difficult to source” and creates a flattering, finger-lengthening look.

Size and value estimates ran wide. Most jewelers put the stone between five and eight carats, though a few guessed as high as 10 to 15, and several agreed it could easily be worth over $1 million depending on its grading and origin. Many also believe it has an antique-style cut — the kind of softer, romantic faceting that stars like Taylor Swift and Zoë Kravitz have helped bring back into fashion.

More than the carat count, the ring reads as a statement of taste. It marks a clear move away from the chunky, heavily vintage rings of recent years toward something quieter: an exceptional stone, an elongated antique-inspired shape, and a minimal setting that lets the diamond do all the talking. As the jewelers see it, that combination is exactly what makes a ring feel iconic decades later, not just of-the-moment.
